Radisson Hotels & Resorts launch a new look and innovative programs

While the change in Radisson's logo to an artsy script and in its name (to reflect the leisure resorts within this 610-property chain) are the most obvious shifts in direction, business travellers are already benefiting from more concrete developments.

New Radisson Logo Eight of the 55 new hotels added last year to Radisson's global chain were in Canada. The new properties, in Burnaby, Longueuil, Canmore, Calgary, Kitchener, London, Laval and Toronto, have increased the company's Canadian presence to 22 properties across the country. To attract the corporate market, the new hotels have undergone multi-million dollar renovations in order to provide the amenities that travelling executives require, from guest rooms with large work desks, two telephone lines, coffee-makers and ergonomic chairs to fully equipped business centres and fitness centres. Plans are also afoot to add rooms and develop hotels in downtown Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, downtown Montreal and Niagara Falls, according to Jeremy Painting, vice president, Radisson Hotels Canada.

Rewarding the customer
To attract and reward the frequent guest, the Radisson Gold Points Rewards program was launched in Canada last October. Within two months the Canadian program had 15,000 members, and the aim is to have 115,000 active Gold Points members by the end of this year.

Members earn 2,000 points per stay or 500 airline miles at any participating Radisson in North America and the Caribbean, and 5,000 bonus points on every fifth stay. Points can be redeemed at a network of suppliers as well as at a Radisson hotel, where a free night starts at 20,000 points.

More recently, it was announced that anyone staying at a participating Radisson hotel three times before the end of May would earn a free night. For the time being, this will be at any of more than 200 Radisson hotels and resorts throughout North America and the Caribbean, although the Gold Points Reward program is likely to be expanded into Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region later this year. Besides hotel stays, Gold Points can be redeemed for restaurant dining, air miles and merchandise.

One significant advantage of the program is that rewards are not subject to any blackouts or conditions.

Want to sign up now? You can enrol in the Gold Points Reward program at any Radisson hotel in North America or the Caribbean, or through the Radisson Web site at www.radisson.com. To learn more about the Gold Points network, including additional earning and redemption opportunities, visit www.goldpoints.com.

Check the Web
To help its Canadian members to access Canadian information more quickly, Radisson Canada launched its own Web site at www.radissoncanada.ca. It's constantly being expanded but visitors to the site will find special deals, seasonal information and program information. In addition, you can make reservations for any Radisson hotel located in Canada.

With its new look and new name, a flexible reward program and a world-class outlook, it's clear that Radisson Canada's sights are set on becoming a leader in Canada's hospitality industry.
