Antigua hotel
Signature Vacations has added the Sunsail Club Colonna to its Antigua lineup. A member of the Sunsail Beach Club chain 'known for its on-site sailing schools', the Sunsail Club Colonna has more than 100 water craft for its guests including sailboats, wind surfers, kayaks, motorboats and day craft. Informal instruction is included for all water sports. The property gears children's programs for five different age groups. All stays include two meals daily, unlimited use of water craft and a choice of hotel rooms or one-, two- or three-bedroom villas with rates starting at $1,599 per person, double from Toronto. Air Canada begins Toronto-Kelowna non-stops
Air Canada will begin non-stop Toronto-Kelowna service June 19 using 112-seat A-319 aircraft. Canadian Airlines will code-share on the flight leaving Toronto daily at 6:30 p.m. and Kelowna at 8:30 a.m. Kelowna is a gateway to the Okanagan Valley, a popular vacation destination with a growing wine industry and four major ski resorts.
Service expanded to Hong Kong
Air Canada and Canadian Airlines will have expanded access to Hong Kong and Japan. The Canadian government said that carriers based in Canada or Hong Kong will be able to fly from any city in Canada to Hong Kong with stops en route or beyond permitted. An agreement with Japan allows both Air Canada and Canadian Airlines to continue flying as distinct brands while Air Canada completes its takeover of Canadian.
Dutch Golden Age
Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year with a new exhibit focusing on the Dutch Golden Age. Over 300 17th-century masterpieces will be on display through July 16, including paintings by Rembrandt and Vermeer.
Air Canada to Amsterdam
Air Canada will begin daily non-stop service between Toronto and Amsterdam July 3 using Boeing 767-200 equipment. To promote the service, Air Canada is offering a special fare of $799 for travel between July 3 and July 31. In addition, double bonus miles will be awarded to those travelling round-trip for the first time through August 31. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has been the only scheduled carrier serving the route since Canadian Airlines pulled out a decade ago.
Aboriginal venture seeks funding
The Ngakalabon and Murrango Aboriginal people of Northeast Arnhemland, Australia have formed a foundation to ensure their cultural heritage is not lost and is passed on to younger generations. To this end, they have established a Cultural Centre at Bodeidei Camp in the Northern Territories outside of Katherine. The elders are inviting non-Aboriginal people to Bodeidei in the hope of sharing their culture, traditions and knowledge of the land and to build bridges of better understanding and friendship between their people and other cultures.
