Business Travel BY JOANNA EBBUTTLufthansa creates more comfort in first and business class Over the past year, Lufthansa has gone to great lengths to attract the business traveller, with a major revamping of long-haul service worldwide, particularly in first and business class. Based on passenger feedback, Lufthansa knew that its customers were most concerned with the time spent in-flight, as well as with more personal service and improved seat comfort. The new seats, cabin styling, and in-flight entertainment were all guided by their input. First Class design The pitch of the new ergonomically designed seats in First was increased from 63 to 94 inches. Each seat comes with adjustable head and shoulder supports, along with various storage areas for your odds and ends, and an adjustable reading lamp. The seat also converts easily into a workplace with a power outlet for laptops. On overnight flights, it turns into a comfortable 1.8-metre (6-ft) bed, with linens, a complimentary nightshirt, and a partition that unfolds to create more privacy. In-flight entertainment has also been improved. Each passenger has a personal video player with an extensive audio and video program including 20 video films. A noise-filtering system ensures a higher quality sound. The First Class cabin now easily accommodates the preferences of its passengers, whether they want to work or relax. The à-la-carte dining service is also geared towards personal preferences, from the selection of each course to the timing of the meal. Business Class comforts Here, the seat pitch was extended from 40 to 49 inches and the seatbacks recline to 125 degrees. Besides the usual wide dinner selections, passengers with smaller appetites can simply make their own selection from the starters, salads, cheeses, and desserts. On overnight flights, coffee, tea, orange juice, and croissants are available until shortly before landing for the convenience of those passengers who prefer to rest longer. Business Class passengers in-flight entertainment includes up to eight hours of films on shorter daytime and overnight services, and up to 16 hours of film on longer flightsas well as a choice of news and current affairs programs, and music.
