AMERICAN EXPRESS ANNOUNCES THE AVAILABILITY OF BRAILLE AND LARGE PRINT CARD STATEMENTS FOR PERSONS WITH VISION IMPAIRMENTS

NEW YORK, June 09, 2005 -- American Express today announced the availability of Braille and large print statements for American Express Cardmembers with vision impairments in the United States. Today's announcement continues American Express' tradition of offering the highest level of service to all its customers.

Cardmembers can request the new service by calling the American Express toll-free customer service number at (800) 528-4800, or the customer service number listed on the back of their American Express Card.

According to the website of the American Foundation for the Blind, there are approximately 10 million blind and visually impaired people in the United States.
