AMERICAN EXPRESS COMPANY PLANS LIVE AUDIO WEB ACCESS TO INVESTOR CONFERENCE CALL DISCUSSING FORM 10 REGISTRATION STATEMENT RELATING TO THE SPIN-OFF OF ITS AMERICAN EXPRESS FINANCIAL ADVISORS UNIT

NEW YORK, June 06, 2005 -- American Express Company said today that it plans to host an investor conference call on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. (ET) to discuss the Form 10 Registration Statement relating to the spin-off of its American Express Financial Advisors unit. The registration statement is expected to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission prior to the call. Gary Crittenden, American Express Company's chief financial officer, will discuss certain information in the Form 10 and will be available to answer questions.
