AMERICAN EXPRESS AND JETBLUE® AIRWAYS EXTEND PARTNERSHIP WITH NEW COBRAND CREDIT CARD AGREEMENT

JetBlue Card from American Express Available Later this Summer: Agreement First of its Kind for JetBlue

NEW YORK, June 20, 2005 -- American Express and JetBlue Airways [NASDAQ; JBLU] today announced an agreement to issue a cobrand credit card to consumers later this summer that will allow Cardmembers to earn Award Dollars convertible to points in JetBlue's Flight Gratitude program, TrueBlue®. The JetBlue Card from American Express will help consumers earn travel rewards fast and attract new customers, who value rewards-rich credit cards and low-cost, customer-focused air travel. The agreement is the first of its kind for JetBlue and builds on the existing successful relationship American Express has with JetBlue as a merchant and recent airline partner in its Membership Rewards® program.

“JetBlue is committed to finding new and innovative ways to offer our customers more ways to save and partnering with American Express will enable us to do just that,” said David Neeleman, JetBlue's CEO. “JetBlue saw immediate success with its relationship with Membership Rewards and now we can expand beyond that success with the new JetBlue Card from American Express.”

“Our partnership with JetBlue is another way we can offer consumers rewards products to fit their lifestyle with brands that have their loyalty” said Al Kelly, Group President U.S. Consumer and Small Business Services, at American Express. “JetBlue is one of America's fastest growing, most innovative airlines, and its commitment to quality customer service is a perfect complement to the American Express brand and the high-quality standards we have delivered to our customers for 155 years. Consumers value choice, and our new JetBlue Card will give JetBlue flyers the best of both brands.”

The JetBlue Card from American Express will allow Cardmembers to earn Award Dollars that can be converted to TrueBlue points redeemable for JetBlue flights. The Card will come with a low annual fee, a competitive interest rate and offer lots of ways to earn Award Dollars for spending in a variety of lifestyle and entertainment categories, providing consumers with the retail, travel services and benefits that they have come to expect from American Express. Consumers can sign up or “pre-board” to receive more information about the Card, when it's available later this summer, by going to www.jetbluecard.com and providing their e-mail address. JetBlue's TrueBlue members will be the first to receive Card details and an application.

JetBlue has accepted American Express® Cards since its launch in 2000. In December 2004, American Express added JetBlue to its Membership Rewards program for enrolled Cardmembers to transfer points directly into TrueBlue for travel with the airline. The partnership between JetBlue's TrueBlue flight gratitude program and American Express' Membership Rewards program exceeded the one-year goal within the first three months.
