AMERICAN EXPRESS TEAMS WITH NEW YORK FOODIES FOR NEW YORK DISH, AN EXCLUSIVE INSIDER'S LOOK AT THE CITY'S DINING SCENE
New York's top chefs and culinary experts kick-off 2007 by dishing this year's hottest trends
NEW YORK, January 17, 2007 -- Looking for the hidden hot spots on New York's dining scene? American Express has unveiled a new website called New York Dish (www.mylifemycard.com/newyorkdish) that provides the ultimate insider's view. An unprecedented online dining resource, New York Dish features unscripted video commentary from New York's top chefs, restaurant owners and food writers as well as exclusive offers for hundreds of the city's best restaurants. The site offers the chance to hear from those “in the know” as they share their unique insights, best-kept secrets and make recommendations for dining and entertaining in the Big Apple.
"It's difficult to find trustworthy resources to guide you when dining out in a cultural hub like New York City that has more than 20,000 restaurant choices," said Curtis Wilson, vice president and general manager, Restaurant Industries, American Express Establishment Services. "American Express saw the opportunity to create a fresh resource that not only offers personal commentary from New York's top dining experts, but also provides exclusive offers and experiences for our Cardmembers."
Visitors to New York Dish will find the inside scoop on topics ranging from where to find the best local flavor to tips on dining late at night. For example, the site reveals a hidden gem in SoHo where, according to Julie Reiner, co-owner and bar chef at Flatiron Lounge, you have to climb stairs and walk through the kitchen, but the food and cocktails are worth the journey.
Featured experts and contributors to New York Dish are Daniel Boulud, chef and owner, Daniel and Café Boulud; David Chang, owner and chef, Momofuku Noodle Bar and Momofuku Ssam Bar; Jack Lamb, co-owner, Jewel Bako, Jack's Luxury Oyster Bar and Degustation; Ed Levine, author, New York Eats; Zarela Martinez, owner and chef, Zarela; Charlie Palmer, chef and owner, Aureole and Metrazur; Julie Reiner, owner and bar chef, Flatiron Lounge; Marcus Sameulsson, executive chef, Aquavit; Aaron Sanchez, owner and chef, Centrico and Paladar; Andrea Strong, author, The Strong Buzz; Jacques Torres, owner, Jacques Torres Chocolate; and Patricia Yeo, executive chef, Sapa.
"When it comes to the ins and outs of New York's vast dining scene, being ‘in the know' as a chef definitely has its privileges," said Patricia Yeo, executive chef, Sapa. "What New York Dish does is reveal our insider's knowledge and dining secrets to the everyday diner – It's a resource that New Yorkers have been missing for years."
New York Dish launched simultaneously with San Francisco Dish (www.mylifemycard.com/sanfranciscodish), and both sites join Boston Dish (www.mylifemycard.com/bostondish) which successfully launched in early 2006.
