AMERICAN EXPRESS LAUNCHES NEW SPOT WITH TINA FEY AND MARTIN SCORSESE
New Television, Print Highlight Unique Benefits of Traveling with the Platinum Card® from American Express
NEW YORK, July 02, 2008 -- Today, American Express announces the launch of its latest television spot featuring comedian and actress Tina Fey showcasing how American Express provides exclusive travel benefits for Platinum Card® members. The spot, part of its "Are you a Cardmember?®" brand campaign, takes place in an airport where Tina has a chance encounter with Martin Scorsese who asks her to join him in the airport lounge. Tina's coach ticket to Paris does not provide access to the lounge and she's determined to find a way to get in.
In addition to the television spot, a new print advertisement, shot by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz, portrays Tina as a world traveler and captures her sense of humor about travel. The television spot will debut on major broadcast outlets starting July 3, and the print advertisement appears in the July issues of several monthly magazines.
"Some people travel for business and some people travel to see the world, but I think most of us travel so our kids will know their cousins, and as an excuse to play miniature golf," said Tina Fey. "Since shooting the commercial with Mr. Scorsese, I have used my American Express Platinum Card to try to get into a fancy airport lounge and it did actually work! I have had less success using it to get me a part in a Scorsese movie."

Baggage Insurance Plan
When Card members purchase airline tickets with the Platinum Card, the Baggage Insurance Plan automatically applies coverage against loss or damage for up to a combined maximum of $3,000 for carry-on and check baggage. The maximum benefit for check baggage for an eligible person per covered trip is $2,000, in excess of check baggage covered by common carriers.

This benefit entitles Card members to special privileges at over 550 hotels and resorts around the world when booking their accommodations through Platinum Travel Service. Complimentary amenities include a room upgrade upon arrival, when available, a continental breakfast for two each day, a convenient late check-out time of 4 p.m. and a special amenity that varies at each hotel and resort.
